With a brand new album from Exodus on the horizon, I thought I would take a look at one of the many Guest Guitar Solos from Gary Holt. Let’s take a look………..
So the band in question is the Swedish metal band Hypocrisy and the song that he contributed a solo to is “Scrutinized.” I remember getting a sampler after a show back in 2006 and it had two songs off of this album as well as the Exodus album Shovel Headed Kill Machine. I still haven’t really delved that much into Hypocrisy’s albums, but I have definitely listened to this album a fair amount of times and I must say anytime you hear Gary Holt you know it’s him. I think before I even started looking into who contributed what, I always really enjoyed this guitar solo. It definitely has that Gary Holt feel to it and it’s just absolutely bad ass. The rest of the album is good too, but this particular song is definitely a standout and a fair amount of it has to do with the guitar solo. Now there is a music video for this song, but you really can’t see Gary so I assume that they filmed it without his participation. Definitely check this song out and in fact, check out the rest of the album.
