I do have to say when it comes to bands playing on late night talk shows, it’s always great because I’d like to think they gain new fans. It’s also fun browsing YouTube for some of these Great Performances On TV because sometimes there’s a twist on the song being played. Such is the case of when The Pretty Reckless played the song “Make Me Wanna Die” on The Late Night Show with David Letterman. Let’s take a look……….
When it comes to this band, I would say that I was a little late to the game. They were a band I never really took seriously, especially knowing that Taylor Momsen was on that show Gossip Girl as well as playing Cindy-Lou Who in that Grinch movie. However, a couple years ago I put them on the chopping block for a review and I have to say Taylor Momsen has such an amazing voice. This particular performance is one of their earlier ones and even then her voice just has this awesomeness about it. Now, with this particular performance, it starts off with an organ player of all things. It’s weird hearing this song with something that sounds like it would be at a baseball game. But regardless, it does add sort of a unique and interesting twist. Now another thing with this performance is that Taylor is about 14-15 years old and the fact that she sounds that good at such an early age is beyond impressive!! I know that this particular song is considered one of their hits, but it is a damn good song and one of those that I don’t really get tired of listening to. At the time of writing this, I still have yet to see this band live, and they are absolutely on my bucket list.
