Forgotten Classics: The Goo Goo Dolls- Long Way Down

If you were a kid back in the 90s it really was a simpler time.  I very much remember getting a boom box with cassette player from my parents, and there was no shortage of rock radio stations.  One station that I always would listen to was called 96.7 The Bus and that radio station really did introduce me to a lot of the bands that I listen to today. Of course, one of the many songs that was on rotation was a Forgotten Classic“Long Way Down” by The Goo Goo Dolls.  Let’s take a look……

Oh the 90’s how I miss thee.  Yes this band has bigger hits but this one has always been one of my favorite songs from The Goo Goo Dolls.  It’s got that power pop meets grunge sound and it’s absolutely one of those songs that takes me back.  Now while the band hasn’t exactly said what the song is about, what I get out of it is a song that’s about alienation and the fear of abandonment. I mean it’s perfectly explained with the lyrics “I don’t think I’ll make it on my own.”  Now of course, this wouldn’t be a classic without appearing on the Twister soundtrack and the band even performed this song on an episode of Beverly Hills 90210.  So if it’s been awhile since you’ve heard this song, go back and give it another listen!!
