Rising Star Reviews: Xtine And The Reckless Hearts

As I’ve said many many many times, had I not been lucky enough to be involved with Cobalt Presents shows, I probably would not be open to reviewing local bands. One such band that has recently been put on my radar is the band Xtine And The Reckless Hearts. That who’s on the chopping block, so let’s take a look…….

What I really like about this band and many like it is that their music is just a ton of fun. I mean the opening song “Dead Weight” just goes for it and while they only really have one five song EP, it’s a very good EP. Now there may only be five songs, but they all don’t sound the same and you can totally tell that they are influenced by bands like Rancid, Paramore, to even Coheed And Cambria. Here’s a fun fact their Dead Weight EP was produced by none other than Tim Armstrong of Rancid!!  I think what I like most about this band is while it doesn’t reinvent the wheel it does put a refreshing tape on things. And I think now that’s what making great music is all about.   It’s all about how you can keep it fresh and alive and they definitely do a fantastic job of it. I do wish that there was more than just the five song EP but I’m glad that we have the music that we have and hopefully they’ll put out new music i.e. a full length sooner rather than later. If you go on their Instagram page, it does say save rock ‘n’ roll, and these ladies are definitely doing so.
