Play It Again Damn It!!: Lamb Of God: Black Label

OK, so I was chatting with a friend of mine and we were talking about Lamb Of God and how they did not play their cover version of Black Sabbath’s Children Of The Grave. Now, if you haven’t listened to that version of that song, please go and listen to it, especially if you’re a fan of both bands.  Then again, if you are reading this, you probably already heard that song because you’re a fan of both those bands.  Regardless, it got me thinking that there are so many bands that used to play such great songs and really don’t play them anymore. So I thought I would take a look at one of my favorite bands Lamb Of God. Let’s take a look…….

Song: Black Label

Album: New American Gospel (studio) Killadelphia (live album)

I’ve seen a lot of bands live and  Lamb Of God is one of those bands that I think is up there with ones that I’ve seen the most. I think I’ve actually lost count as how many times I’ve seen them.  But regardless, they are absolutely one of those bands that are a must see live.  Back in the day they always used to close with the song Black Label and to me it’s gonna be their best closing song. Now they close with the song Redneck and while that’s a great song, there’s just something about Black Label that makes for the perfect closer. Like it’s one of those songs where Randy would get the crowd really going and in fact that’s where the wall of death I believe came from (I could be wrong. Don’t quote me on that.).  During the bridge, he would tell the crowd to hold, count to three, and then just yell go, and the crowd would go nuts. Like it was definitely a sight to behold, and it just made their live shows that much more fun.  I don’t know maybe it’s because they’re older now but on a really energetic live performance I don’t see why they can’t bring that one back.  I look at setlist.fm and the last time that they closed with it was in 2015. Another big reason why I think they should play that song is because they don’t really play anything off of the first couple albums anymore.  It’s like you wrote these songs you spent time in the studio to record these songs they ought to be played live.
