Album Of The Week: Nine Inch Nails

Recently, while I was driving and listening to various playlists on Spotify, I came across the song “Somewhat Damaged.”  Something about it made me decide to give the rest of The Fragile another go and this is the album that I have decided to pick for Album Of The Week. Since this is the first Album Of The Week, I thought I would choose an album that is somewhat out of left field, but not really at the same time. Anyway, with that, let’s take a look………..

As I said in my introduction, I was on a long drive for work and something about the first song just made me wanna go and give the entire album another listen.  Now you may be asking “ but I thought your favorite Nine Inch Nails album was Downward Spiral?” And it is but something about the time of day I was driving (it was evening BTW) and the mood that I was in just made me want to.  It’s the perfect album to listen to on a long drive and even before you go to bed.  Like if I was going to pick an album to listen to while watching a sunset, this would probably be my go to (hell any Nine Inch Nails album would be my go to). I think what makes this one stand out is whereas Downward had more heavily distorted guitars, and things of that sort, The Fragile is more ambient and moody. Now I will say that it is one of the longer albums in the catalog but it honestly doesn’t feel like it.  Going back and listening to it again there’s also a sort of dark and creepy factor (by that I mean some of these songs could be placed in kind of a weird horror film). However you look at it, it is one of their better albums and one that I would call essential listening.
