Great Performances On TV: Spacehog- In The Meantime

Oh the 90’s how I miss thee. Going back and watching these 90’s performances really does take me back. Whether it’s an Ozzfest performance or a Great Performance On TV, it can feel like stepping in a Time Machine. For this one, I thought I’d take a look at Spacehog playing their song “In The Meantime” Live On Late Night With Conan O’Brien on 01/06/1996.  Let’s take a look……

As I said, seeing these performances is definitely like stepping in a Time Machine “In The Meantime” definitely feels that way. If there was ever a quintessential song from the 90’s, it is definitely Spacehog’s “In The Meantime.”  With this performance in particular, singer Royston Langdon looks a lot like 70’s era David Bowie and now that all of Bowie’s albums have been reviewed, I definitely hear that in not just this song but in pretty much all of their songs. This is also one of those live videos that I’ll go back to every now and again because it sounds a lot like the studio version. Now the video below is kind of dark but you can still see fairly well what’s going on. One YouTube comment said “we were so spoiled back then” and that is absolutely a true statement.  As I said in my Forgotten Classic article, this song in particular has had a bit of a resurgence by appearing in the trailer for the movie Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3. Anyway, definitely check this out and while you’re at it, go give Spacehog a listen.
