So in my musical journey, let’s just say I’ve been listening to a lot of really young bands and all have been great. But it got me thinking that you can totally hear certain influences throughout whichever band you’re listening to. And one band that I’ve kind of gone back and revisited as of late is The Donnas. Now for those who are unfamiliar with this band they were an all girl hard rock band that was around from about 1993 to about 2012.
I mean, if you listen to their very first album just simply called The Donnas, you can totally hear how they’ve influenced a lot of young and upcoming bands. Their first album I would say is more like a kind of fun hard rock meets punk rock sound and they continue that until probably their album Gold Medal. I’ve always said when it comes to this band, if you were to mix Kiss, Motley Crue, Joan Jett, Girlschool, Guns N’ Roses, and Motörhead this would be that band. When you get to Gold Medal, you hear more Led Zeppelin. I feel like this is a band that doesn’t get enough credit as far as being influential for so many younger bands and that’s really too bad. Definitely check out their albums and hopefully we can get some kind of reunion in the future!!!!
