Soundtrack Specials: Megadeth- Angry Again

One cannot deny that in the 80’s and 90s Arnold Schwarzenegger was definitely at the top of his game. I mean you had classics like Predator, Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and so many others. One such film of his that sort of gets overlooked is Last Action Hero and I actually really enjoy this film. Before movies like Scream were meta, there was Last Action Hero and of course there had to be an awesome soundtrack. For today’s Soundtrack Specials, we’re going to take a look at the song “Angry Again” by Megadeth. Let’s take a look…………

Angry Again was written by Dave Mustaine in one day while he was listening to The Clash song “Should I Stay Or Should I Go.”  The lyrics were written in one day while he was half asleep and it was actually written and recorded during the Countdown To Extinction tour however, it never made it on the album. At the time of its release, the only physical way to listen to it was to either buy the Last Action Hero soundtrack or buy the Hidden Treasures EP. The song itself is about how he was angry with everyone from his band to promoters, to the music business as a whole. I’m sure being in and out of rehab didn’t help either but according to Dave, he wrote the song as he was getting out of an Arizona rehab facility. Sadly, even though the movie was expected to be this massive blockbuster it ended up being a giant flop.  The soundtrack, however, proved to be very successful particularly “Angry Again” which does make its way onto  Megadeth’s live performances on a semi-regular basis. Now this song was nominated for a Grammy for Best Metal Performance but didn’t win. I mean when you’re going up against Iron Maiden’s “Fear Of The Dark,” White Zombie’s “Thunderkiss ‘65,” Suicidal Tendencies’ “Institutionalized,” and Ozzy Osbourne’s “I Don’t Want To Change The World,” that is some stiff competition. I would say this is one of my favorite Megadeth songs and the soundtrack for Last Action Hero has so many great songs. Definitely check out both
