Up next on the chopping block is a band that I recently saw in 2026 that was just so much fun. The band in question is called The Armed and not only were they a lot of fun, but they were very loud which always makes for a great time. Let’s take a look……..
These Are Lights- at first this kind of reminds me of a Converge or Dillinger Escape Plan. It’s very much in that same vein and that always makes for a great time. Fun thing about this album is that it was originally released for free on Bandcamp which I think more bands need to start doing that. A great start and I’m going to give it 8/10.
Standouts: As Centaurs, Gave Up, Elephant
Untitled- this one has more of a punk sound going on. To me this one didn’t really feel like it was that different from the first album, but overall, I enjoyed it. Definitely a fun record and I’ll give it 8/10.
Standouts: Nervewrecker, Future Drugs, Issachar
Only Love- this is a very weird record to say the least. Vocal wise it doesn’t stray that far away from the previous albums however, musically there’s some weirdness going on. There’s the usual metal core/punk sound but there’s also some electronic and noise rock as well. It all works together oddly enough and it makes for a really fun and exciting listening experience. I’ll give this 8/10
Standouts: Role Models, Heavily Lined, Witness
ULTRAPOP- yes the last album was weird and if you didn’t think that this band could get any weirder then you would be wrong. I honestly I’m not really sure what to make of this record. It’s very experimental because it has a lot of noise and other interesting sounds going on but at the same time you also have this sort of heavy pop rock sound. I’m not really sure what to make of this, but whatever it is I actually really like it. I’m going to go ahead and give this 6/10.
Standouts: FAITH IN MEDICATION, BIG SHELL, REAL FOLK BLUES
Perfect Saviors- of all of the albums so far this one probably sounds the most straightforward and simple. There are actually clean vocals on here and it’s a nice change of pace. It does have that postpunk meets hard-core sound and much like everything I’ve listened to from this band so far works brilliantly. Again, another fun and interesting record and I’m giving it 8.5/10.
Standouts: Clone, Burned Mind, Sport Of Measure
The Future Is Here And Everything Needs To Be Destroyed- OK so aside from the cool album title this is one of those records that is sort of a combination of everything. You have elements from each of the albums, and it all comes together so well. The main theme of the album is Weltschmerz which is German for pain. Singer Tony Wolski has said that the reason for this theme is because “music for a statistically wealthy population that somehow can’t afford food or medicine—endlessly scrolling past vacation photos, gym selfies, and images of child amputees in the same feed.” again it’s always great when bands take elements from all of their previous records and combine them so I’m giving this album 9/10.
Standouts: Kingbreaker, Sharp Teeth, Heathen
At the end of the day, this is a really fun and cool band with some bad ass albums. When I saw them live, I really wasn’t sure what to expect but they were just so much fun and they really do put on one hell of a show. That said if you ever decide to see this band live (and you should BTW) definitely check out their albums beforehand because you’ll have a much more enjoyable time.
