One thing about apps like instagram is that they can introduce you to new bands. While scrolling Instagram, I came across a new and fun band called The Deffades. I gave their songs a listen, liked what I heard, and decided to put them on The Chopping Block. Let’s take a look….
There are certain bands that come along, and you can absolutely point out who they’re influenced by. In this case, you can hear The Beatles influence on The Deffades songs and in fact the band name comes from one of their songs. The best way I can describe their sound would be The Beatles meets The Bangles with just a touch of atmosphere for good measure. So think like 60’s meets 70’s and 80’s with a touch of punk.
Another thing I’d also like to point out is that you can hear the chemistry between the band members if that makes any kind of sense. I think that Charolette Callahan’s guitar playing sounds refreshing yet classic at the same time. Edie Anderson and Ruby B make for a great rhythm section and both kill it on drums and bass. Another characteristic of this band is that they all sing which again goes back to their influence of The Beatles. You can absolutely tell that’s where they got their vocal melody from. When it comes to streaming their music, they have four songs but they’re all different yet not so far off the beaten path. So if you’re looking for something on the classic, but with a modern twist side of things, definitely give The Deffades a listen!!
