When it comes to metalcore, one cannot deny the impact that a band like Earth Crisis has had. To me they’re right up there with bands like Sick Of It All. Now I remember seeing the 1996 Ozzfest poster back in the day and thinking “Earth Crisis? That’s a cool name.” Let’s take a look….
Headlining the second stage at an Ozzfest is kind of a big deal. I mean you’re the last band on said stage before the big acts go on. Now some might wonder why this band didn’t open the main stage and that’s because at that time, they were only on their second album Gomorrah’s Season Ends. Gomorrah’s Season Ends is considered a fan favorite but it was released on October 8, 1996, and the first Ozzfest date was October 25, 1996 which means that this had just come out. The video that I was able to find was their performance of the song “Broken Foundation” and they were on fire for this one!! What makes this performance also significant is that shortly after Ozzfest, they were signed to Roadrunner Records. Because of Ozzfest, smaller bands were able to get signed to major record labels and I’ll be elaborating more on this as I get into the later years. Anyway, great performance and they still put on a killer show!!
